I do think that it is possible, but it’s gonna take a while. I’m with you on the whole pessimistic view of things. Right now, mainstream feminism is so rooted in the cis white woman point of view that it’s gonna take a lot of fighting to make them see the world from a different perspective.

Pro-Tip: Cis women are not the only people who can become pregnant, use birth control, or need abortions.

This so called “war on women” is not just a war on cis women. It’s a war on anyone who needs access to safe, affordable, and accessible healthcare. If we want to make any real progress, we need to stop ignoring and erasing the experiences of trans*, genderqueer, intersex, and other nonbinary people.

Racism and sexism are very tightly intertwined in our society. Due to that, Woc and white women face two very distinct and different realities. Refusing to acknowledge that fact means you are erasing the experiences of WoC everywhere. Don’t be mad when WoC want nothing to do with you when you insist on spewing your colorblind nonsense everywhere.

(For those who don’t know, Cathy Brennan has harassed trans tumblr users under the name bugbrennan [not linking, don’t want to lead any traffic that way] and also generally posts anti-trans pieces on multiple blogging outlets. She deserves no platform regarding any issue, let alone combating hatred.)

Thursday, May 3rd:

I recently discovered that I am four weeks pregnant. At first I was shocked, then I was scared, then I felt ashamed.. and now I am enraged. I think that unwed pregnancies need to stop having such a fucking taboo attached to them. I don’t know how our culture can shove sex in our faces through food and clothing ads, television shows, movies and the like.. and then shame us when we .. what? get pregnant? the result of having sex.. which is encouraged in so many aspects of our lives. I need to talk to other women about this. Other women need to talk to other women about this.. Today at planned parenthood I learned that 1 in every 3 women will have an abortion. 1 IN EVERY 3 WOMEN WILL HAVE AN ABORTION. I was so fucking shocked to hear that because YOU WOULD NEVER GUESS. PART OF TEACHING PEOPLE ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS IS LETTING OTHERS KNOW WHO IS TAKING ADVANTAGE OF REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS. I want to call my dad and say, “Yo, I’m getting an abortion. A vote for Romney is a vote against me having the future I want.. are you ready to be a grandfather?”

Everything is pretty fucked up, but I am so grateful that I am able to have choice. It is time for me to fight back against this shame, speak out about what I am going through and teach others that they are not alone in this experience. Lezzzdoooit together.

I think sharing and telling stories about unplanned/unwanted pregnancies and abortions is the only way we’re going to get rid of the stigma surrounding it. I think if more people knew just how many people around them were affected by this, the shit Republicans are trying to pull around the country wouldn’t fly.

Official Petition to Stop Catherine Brennan

Catherine Brennan is a lawyer in Maryland who is using their legal leverage to intimidate trans* women and their supporters from retaliating against Catherine’s venomous attacks on trans* women.


One such supporter, myself (queernonymoose on tumblr), has set up a tumblr post campaign basically outlining who to contact (the Maryland Attorney Grievance Board) to report Ms. Brennan for unethical behavior. Catherine Brennan has repeatedly sent Tumblr false accusations of my posts containing copyrighted information, and has gotten Tumblr to delete 6 posts of mine (two of which were the actual post campaigns with said information above, and one stating that I had received a complaint letter from Tumblr).


Tell Tumblr that false reports are bad, and that someone trying to claim legal power to push those false reports through is just as horrible and unethical!

Catherine Brennan’s tumblr name is bugbrennan.

  • Black women make about $0.68 to a man’s dollar.
  • Latina women make about $0.58 to a man’s dollar.

Intersectionality matters.

Also, please keep in mind that the “man’s dollar” is the white man’s dollar. Both Black and Latino men make less than white women.
